After the loss of my first GT-R, I really wanted another. I was getting used to the car, and really enjoying it, and the way it responed to simple modifications. At the time, GT-Rs were still very rare in the UK, so I chose to source one from Japan. I had an agent searching the auctions for me, and he eventually tracked me down a nice example - while I was on holiday in Corfu!
I had wanted a White GT-R ( this was before I discovered the Black ones are faster ;-) ), however when I saw the pics of this one, and the condition (Grade 4) it looked to be a good one, and with the wonders of internet banking, the deal was done, and the car was on it's way to me.
Here's the pics of the car in Japan.
It took around 3 months from purchase for the car to arrive from Japan, and it then had to be SVA'd and MOT'd before I could use it, but eventually, the prcoess was complete. At the same time as I bought my car, a friend of mine was also importing a GT-R. I didn't know at the time, but this would later become my car as well!
Here are the pics of his car, which became later my third GT-R, whilst it was still in Japan.
Once the cars arrived, we travelled up together to collect them. We took a few photo's along the way.
My GT-R
My car arrived with 16 inch wheels, lowered suspension, HKS Exhaust, boost gauge, side skirts and a 'speed meter'. Apart from that, everything was standard and well looked after - there was even a box in the boot containing loads of wax and polish!
Jon's GT-R
Jon's GT-R was far more modified, and one of the most highly modified GT-Rs I've seen from Japan. It had a 5Zigen exhaust with decat pipe, HKS Air Filter, Bee-R ECU, Bilstein shocks, Blitz Intercooler and Tanabe springs.
Together!
Time to start the modifications! My first job was to modify the HKS exhaust to remove the cat, this was fairly simple to do. After that I added a HKS boost controller, and set the boost to 1 bar. A trip to the rollers showed 254BHP already, just from these simple mods. The main problem now was that the clutch couldn't cope, so time to find a better one!
